Hi and welcome to this week’s newsletter!

I know, waiting is agony, and we’re all waiting for further news on the Smash LP release!
Well, here is another unreleased track from the record! We can't wait to announce the release date!
Indeed, waiting seems to be theme of the month! I spent last week doing a different type of waiting - I took a train to Aberdeen and back!

Dashing through stations, waiting in "waiting rooms" (that word!), all to a timetable the trains had quietly decided to ignore.
While blindly staring out of the train window at engineering marvels you hardly ever get to see and appreciate - The Tay Bridge at Dundee for instance!

It got me thinking about how many times I'd been to Scotland with Squire. We've played both Oran Mor, Glasgow and Voodoo Rooms in Edinburgh with Secret Affair quite recently.

Heres the view from the stage in Edinburgh 2023!
And yes, we have been to Aberdeen. Squire have been there on many occasions! For the Get Smart in store performances at One -Up,

And once to play a headline date at The Lemon Tree, which never happened! Although we had driven all the way up from London, arrived in good time and had sound checked, and the support band had played, just as we were about to go on stage, a chair was thrown into the audience and the entire date was cancelled on the spot! Yikes! I recall a fan later telling me they had walked 20 miles to get to the gig!
We also did a radio show in Dundee during the Get Smart record shop tour! Of course those trips are in the van, and you have some sense of control, even if its a long trip!

It got me thinking about how much of life is actually spent waiting not only for trains, but for the weekend, the next holiday, the phone to ring, the next gig!
Which is fitting, because this week's Smash album track is called Waiting For A Train. It’s the song that closes the record. It’s the song at the end of the line!
And no, I haven’t written a song about British Rail - but the song is laced with clues about how long I’ve been waiting for the train, and where.
Here's a preview of the track
and there ia s longer story behind it, over on Substack.

More soon. For now - all aboard the Smash train!
All the best from Squire!
